String of Pearls offered us our own paradise! The cottage is adorable, perfect for the 2 of us (though we could see how our kids would also benefit staying here... read more (9 and 10). The cottage was far enough from yet close enough to town! The little beach and kayak were exceptional. The cottage is within walking distance to the Westin for a dinner “out” and walking distance to St John Market where we were able to get our meal needs for meals “at home”.
String of Pearls made an amazing vacation even better! BJ is so nice and the property management team, Linda and Pam of St John Properties, made the trip coordination a breeze with excellent communication from the very beginning of inquiry to coordinating our taxi and ferry services to personal welcome, and even delivering a bag of ice! 5 Stars without a doubt! So pleased! our next visit will include String of Pearls!

  My wife and I stayed at The String Of Pearls for our wedding / honeymoon in 2008. It was the best week of my life. I am planning our 10... read more year anniversary and we are going back. The owner at the time, (and I hope still) BJ, was amazing. She also was the witness at our wedding. She bought my wife flowers to wear in her hair. We were not really ready for everything (emotionally we were but we were unprepared) and BJ was there to cross the T's for us. She also drove us to and from the ceremony at Cinnamon Bay. Oh and the villa itself is pure bliss. Great view, hot tub, stocked fridge, and as I said it was the greatest week of my life. If you don't like The String Of Pearls, then you are just plain crazy. Thank you BJ for everything and I look forward to seeing you again next June!! We will be contacting you very soon!!

BJ, the owner was very helpful and easy to... read more work with at booking. While we did not see her until our departure, she was always available if we needed her.

The condo offers amenities that we never had the time to use but it was great to know they were available. For instance, the two man kayak and direct water access! How great is that? We really enjoyed sitting on the private beach for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. Great fun to watch the activities on Great Cruz Bay.

Everything was clean when we arrived and there were several goodies in the fridge such as cheese, candies, beers which was a nice gesture. The bed is plenty comfortable, air conditioning worked well and when the air was off and windows open, the cross breeze was delightful. In terms of the kitchen and bath, everything we needed was provided.

Great Cruz Bay may not be a snorkeling gem, but the overall location is fantastic. We rented our own jeep, which I would encourage everyone to do. It was so easy to head out on South Shore Road to Centerline each day for an adventure around the island then in the evening, dinner in town or ZoZo's at Caneel Bay are very short drives.

We loved St John and will return and certainly hope String of Pearls is available when we do.
